MARIEL GONZALEZ
Mariel Gonzalez is a mixed media artist with a love for acrylic painting and drawing. Born in Toronto to Filipino parents, Mariel studies at the University of Toronto with a major in English, and minors in Food Studies and Studio Arts. She participated in the ACM Student Art Exhibition in March 2020.
LAURA ALCAZAR PRADA
Laura Alcazar Prada was born in Bogota, Colombia in February of 1998. She studies Human Biology and Studio Art at the University of Toronto, and projects to graduate the spring of 2020. Of the many mediums she has explored, due to her university’s variety of mediums they offer for students; she primarily uses 2-D mediums like drawing, painting and photographs for her art. However, she never shies away from other skills that her studies have thought her.
JAIHAN DEAN
Jaihan Dean is a skilled portrait artist in her community in Markham. From a very young age, she has always enjoyed drawing. At the age of four she won an art award from the city of Toronto! Expressing her creativity has helped her navigate and overcome emotional hardships throughout her life.
MICHELLE HUANG
Michelle Huang is a visual and digital media artist born in the City of Vancouver and is currently living and working in Toronto, Ontario. Her interests range from digital to print media, as well as artworks that are a mix of both. She has also done several other works, such as installation art and sculptures.
UJWAL MANTHA
Ujwal Kartik Mantha is an interdisciplinary, multimedia artist whose work revolves around stories. He aims to be both a listener and storyteller with every piece he makes, paying close attention to the little and grand narratives we tell ourselves everyday. He is currently doing a double major in Sociology and the Studio arts at the University Of Toronto Scarborough
KELLY CHAN
Born and raised in Toronto, Kelly Chan is a young artist who enjoys creating artworks at her own interests. With her love of experimentation, the diverse mediums of painting, sculpture, sound, performance and digital media she explores, questions the self and what it truly means to be an artist. Currently, as a Studio Arts major, English and Theatre Performance Studies student, her works delve deep into various aspects far beyond the surfaces of general art.
HYEBIN KIM
Hyebin Kim is a digital media artist born in Suwon, Korea. She studies at the University of Toronto, with a specialist degree in Arts Management and a minor in Studio Art. Her interest in digital media ranges from graphic art to moving GIF images.
Hyebin creates artworks based on her personal experiences, ranging from exploring the five different senses, to telling her story as being an international student/newcomer in Toronto.
SHARARAH RAYEN AHMED
Shararah Rayen Ahmed’s art is driven by her interest in feelings of self, embodied experience, and political and social activism. Her body of work strives to introduce and raise awareness on unfamiliar and controversial topics, mainly of the East to the Western world. Her practice consists primarily of painting, mixed media, and installation art. Shararah is a Bangladeshi-Canadian artist based in Toronto. An English specialist, she is presently completing a double minor in Studio and Women’s and Gender Studies.
LE ANH CHAU TRAN
Le Anh is a 4th year Arts Management student minoring in Studio Art. In Studio Art, after 4 years of exploring different mediums and types of works, Le Anh found herself particularly interested in works exploring the repetitiveness of human routine. She is the creator of a time-based painting project “Monotony" inspired by the current situation of COVID-19. As a graduating student, Le Anh is looking to work in the cultural industry in a role that aims to support emerging artists financially, and to bring their artworks to the world.
XIAO CHEN
Xiao Chen (Michelle) is a student who majors in Studio Art at the University of Scarborough. She was born and raised in China and she studies in different countries after her primary school. She spent 3 years in Singapore finishing her secondary school study and then went to Boston for college. She enjoys creating artworks at her own interests but also artworks that reflect some possibly neglected issues.
WING LAM LEUNG
Wing is studying Arts Management, Studio Art and Curatorial Studies at the University of Toronto. She is interested in performance art. While her practice questions the nuances between art and life, body and social relations, her ideas are not confined by any medium as she likes to explore a variety of forms of expression. Her recent works “A Walk in the Park” and “YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT ME” are performed with cameras to focus on the bodily experience during the pandemic. Through exaggeration, stimulation and repetition, she wants her audience to reflect upon ‘now what’ physically, mentally and emotionally.
JOANNE DEVANATHAN
Joanne Devanathan is an artist practicing in painting and drawing. Attending the University of Toronto Scarborough, she is doing a double major in English and Studio art. Much of her art is inspired by her own dreams, desires, emotions and her love for outer space. Joanne aspires to become a high school art teacher who encourages her students to explore and express their inner selves and to think as individuals. She enjoys the artistic styles of art nouveau, impressionism and surrealism.
